Spring Valley Crash on State Route 94 Kills Man who Exited Vehicle

SPRING VALLEY, CA (July 22, 2022) – Early in the morning on Sunday in Spring Valley, a man was struck and killed on State Route 94. The July 17 crash occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway, near Spring Street.
The time was roughly 2:30 a.m., Travis Garrow said. Garrow is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
According to authorities, two vehicles collided on the freeway, and a man exited one of the vehicles after the crash.
The man was standing in the number one lane of the freeway when a vehicle–described as a Hyundai Elantra–struck him.
Responders pronounced the man deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as a resident of San Diego, 28 years old. His name has not been reported.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man was identified as a resident of Spring Valley, 27 years old. His name is not known from reports.
Reports say authorities arrested the person on suspicion of DUI following the crash.
No details have been reported on the initial crash that involved the two vehicles.
Investigators are continuing their work.
