Head-on Crash on Highway 118 near Moorpark Kills One, Injures Another

MOORPARK, CA (September 15, 2022) – Early in the afternoon on Wednesday near Moorpark, a two vehicles collided head on, killing one person and injuring another. The September 14 crash occurred on Highway 118, near Grimes Canyon Road and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 2:20 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Mercedes C-series sedan–had been traveling on Highway 118 and heading west. The Mercedes went into the lane of opposing traffic at a point where the road curves, for reasons that are not known, authorities said.
The Mercedes collided head on with a Chevrolet box truck.
Responders found the driver of the Mercedes died at the crash site. He was a resident of Oxnard, 26 years old. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported the driver of the box truck to Thousand Oaks, to Los Robles Medical Center.
The patient suffered injuries that were described as moderate. His current condition is not known.
He was identified as a resident of Moorpark, 49 years old. His name has also not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call the Moorpark office of the California Highway Patrol.
