Vehicle Crashes into Two Women Changing Tire in La Jolla; Both are Seriously Injured

LA JOLLA, CA (December 29, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in La Jolla, a vehicle struck two women who were changing a tire, seriously injuring them. The December 29 crash occurred on State Route 52, close to where the I-5 transition is located.

The time was roughly 12:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

According to authorities, the two victims had been trying to change a tire that was flat on the eastbound side of the roadway. A vehicle–that went out of the driver’s control–crashed into the women.

Reports say the rainy road surface made have contributed to the car going out of the driver’s control.

Responders transported the two patients to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. They suffered injuries that were described as serious.

Their current condition is not known. Neither woman has been identified in reports.

The person who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the scene of the crash. The driver’s identity has also not been reported.

Investigators are in the process of collecting information about the crash.
