Man Exits Vehicle on 8 Freeway in San Diego and is Struck and Killed

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 8, 2021) – Early in the evening on Saturday in San Diego, a man who exited his vehicle on the 8 Freeway was struck and killed. The November 6 crash occurred in the area of Mission Valley East, on the freeway’s westbound side.
The time was roughly 7:13 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as an SUV, blue in color–had been stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway, close to Texas Street/Qualcomm Way. According to a person who witnessed the crash, a man exited the SUV, and a vehicle struck him.
The vehicle that struck the man has not been described.
The man was killed in the crash. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man has also not been identified.
Investigators are working to understand the crash, and to determine if more than one vehicle hit the man. They are in the process of gathering details and information.
