Hit-and-run Driver Severely Injures USC Student in University Park Crosswalk

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 26, 2022) – Early in the morning on Sunday in the University Park area of Los Angeles, a hit-and-run driver struck a student. The person suffered severe injuries in the January 23 crash, which occurred in the area of Portland Street and West Adams Boulevard.
The time was roughly 7:30 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
According to Detective Ramirez, the pedestrian–identified as a student at the University of Southern California–had been walking in a crosswalk. A vehicle–described as a Dodge Dakota pickup truck, blue in color–struck the student.
The driver did not stop to help the victim, but fled the scene.
Responders transported the victim to the hospital. The student suffered injuries that include a number of bones that were broken.
The student was identified only as 23 years old. The name, age, and gender of the victim have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the pickup truck, which was described as having metal racks in the bed of the truck. They are also searching for the suspect driver, who has not been described.
