Car Smashes into Monterey Park Building, Killing One, Injuring Another

MONTEREY PARK, CA (October 20, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Monterey Park, a car smashed into a building, killing a person. The October 20 crash occurred where West Garvey Avenue and North Atlantic Boulevard intersect.
The time was a little after midnight, according to Monterey Park Police.
A vehicle–which has not been described–had overturned and smashed into a building, for reasons that are not known. The building, which was not open for business when the crash occurred, contains a spa.
Responders arrived and found one occupant of the vehicle died in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Responders transported the other person who had been traveling in the vehicle to the hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered, and current condition, are not known.
The patient has also not been identified. It is not known which person had been driving when the crash occurred.
Investigators are working to understand the crash and its causes. They are collecting details to determine if a second vehicle may have collided with the overturned vehicle, and then fled the scene.
