Buttonwillow Crash at Burbank St. Kills One-year-old Girl

BUTTONWILLOW, CA (July 27, 2022) – On Saturday in Buttonwillow, a two-vehicle crash killed a one-year-old girl. The July 23 crash occurred in the area of Shafter Avenue and Burbank Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle–described as a Dodge Ram truck–had been traveling on Burbank Street and going eastbound.
Authorities allege the driver of the Dodge went through a stop sign without stopping, and collided with a vehicle–described as a Jeep.
Responders transported the one-year-old girl who had been traveling in the Jeep to Kern Medical. She died in the hospital.
Responders transported three other people from the Jeep to the hospital. The patients suffered injuries that were described as moderate.
No one who had been traveling in the Jeep has been identified in reports.
Responders took the truck’s driver to the hospital. He suffered injuries that were described as major.
Authorities arrested the person who was driving the truck on suspicion of DUI. He was identified as Irving Rodriguez-Barraza, a resident of Wasco, 22 years old.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
