Rafael Garcia Struck and Seriously Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, CA (September 2, 2021) – On Thursday in Santa Ana, a hit-and-run driver struck and seriously injured Rafael Garcia. The September 1 incident occurred on Third Street, and footage from a surveillance camera recorded the sounds of the crash, as well as a vehicle leaving the area.

The vehicle–described as a Toyota Corolla, black in color with four doors–may have been involved in another hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian moments after the first one. The second crash occurred in the area of Seventh Street and Raitt.

Garcia–who is 84 years old–was hit outside his home, and the driver did not stop to help him. Responders transported Garcia to the hospital. His condition was described as critical.

The pedestrian who was struck in the second collision has not been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. Reports say the person suffered moderate injuries.

Investigators are searching for the suspect driver, who has not been described, and the vehicle.
