Three Cars Collide in Wilmington and Strike Pedestrians; 5 Seriously Injured

WILMINGTON, CA (August 24, 2021) – Late in the morning on Monday in Wilmington, three cars collided and struck people who were walking. The August 23 crash occurred on North Wilmington Boulevard in the 1000 block.

The time was roughly 10:45 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened, or the line of travel of each vehicle prior to crashing. The vehicles have not been described.

Pedestrians who were walking in a crosswalk were struck by vehicles. It is not known which car or cars struck the pedestrians.

Responders arrived to help, and worked to free one person from the wreckage of a vehicle.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, five people suffered injuries that were described as critical. None of the people involved in the incident have been identified, including their names, ages, genders, and cities of residence.

Investigators are working to understand the crash. They are currently collecting information and details for that effort.
