Vehicle Smashes into Car Dealership in Hancock Park Area of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 27, 2021) –Early in the morning on Tuesday in Los Angeles, a vehicle went out of a driver’s control and smashed light posts, mailboxes, a fire hydrant, and a car dealership. The October 26 crash occurred near Highland Avenue on Wilshire Boulevard.
The time was roughly 3:00 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
A vehicle–which at first was described only as an SUV–went out of the driver’s control, for reasons that are not known. It was reported to have smashed into objects over a distance of a quarter mile, including breaking light posts and mailboxes.
The SUV smashed into the Beverly Hills BMW dealership, and damaged cars inside the building. Responders arrived and found the driver was roughly a block from the site where the SUV had landed on its side.
Reports say the driver had been able to exit and walk from the vehicle. Responders transported him to a hospital.
The types of injuries he suffered, and his current condition are not known. His identity has not been reported.
According to investigators, the SUV was so badly damaged that the make and model of the vehicle could not be initially determined. They later described the vehicle as a Land Rover SR 4, which was totaled.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
