Steve Krueger Identified as UPS Driver Killed when Plane Crashes in Santee

SANTEE, CA (October 13, 2021) – Yesterday, UPS identified Steve Krueger as the employee who was killed when a plane crashed into his delivery truck in Santee on Monday. The small plane crashed into a Santee neighborhood, burning the delivery truck and two houses.
The time was roughly 12:14 p.m., authorities said.
A plane–described as a twin-engine Cessna–had been en route to Montgomery Field in San Diego from Yuma, Arizona. For reasons that are not known, the plane crashed into a UPS delivery truck and two houses at Jeremy Street and Greencastle Street.
Krueger had been inside the delivery truck when the plane struck. He was killed in the crash. According to reports, UPS said Krueger had worked for the company for 30 years.
The pilot–identified as Dr. Sugata Das, a cardiologist–was also killed in the crash.
Reports say Good Samaritans helped rescue two people from a burning house. Responders transported them to a hospital. The identities of the people have not been reported.
In addition to the two houses that were totally burned, reports say as many as 10 others were damaged in the crash and resulting fire.
Investigators are working to understand the crash.
