LOS ANGELES, CA (August 11, 2021) \u2013<\/strong> Early in the morning on Monday in South Los Angeles, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman. The August 9 crash occurred in the neighborhood of Leimert Park, where Crenshaw Boulevard and 39th Street are located.<\/p>\n

The time was roughly 3:00 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.<\/p>\n

The victim was in the street, according to police, and may have been trying to help a cat that was hurt when the vehicle struck and killed her.<\/p>\n

The driver did not stay at the crash site, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Responders arrived and found the victim was deceased at the crash site. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.<\/p>\n

Responders also found the body of a cat at the crash site.<\/p>\n

According to reports, police said the driver involved in the incident surrendered to authorities at a later time. The identity of the driver has not been reported.<\/p>\n
