VENTURA COUNTY, CA (September 14, 2021) \u2013<\/strong> Early in the afternoon on Saturday in Ventura County, a head-on crash killed one person and injured four others. The September 11 crash occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Deer Creek Road, and to the north of it.<\/p>\n The time was roughly 12:56 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n A vehicle–described as a Jeep Wrangler–had been heading south on the roadway. According to reports, the driver made a turn, for reasons that are not known, went over the double yellow lines, and into the lane where traffic heads in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n The Jeep went into the path of an oncoming vehicle, described as a Honda HRV. According to the California Highway Patrol, the Jeep and the Honda collided head on.<\/p>\n Responders arrived to help. The person who had been driving the Honda died at the crash site. She was identified only as a resident of Los Angeles, 62 years old. Her name has not been reported.<\/p>\n Two people who had been traveling with her suffered injuries that were described as major. Responders transported them by airlift to hospitals in the area.<\/p>\n Their current condition is not known. They were identified only as a woman who is a resident of Santa Monica, 90 years old; and a woman who is a resident of Los Angeles, 65 years old. Their names have not been reported.<\/p>\n The Jeep’s driver suffered injuries that were described as moderate. He was identified only as a resident of Oxnard, 39 years old His name has not been reported.<\/p>\n A passenger traveling with him suffered injuries that were described as major. He was identified only as a resident also of Oxnard, 34 years old. His name has not been reported.<\/p>\n Responders transported the two men to the hospital for treatment. Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.<\/p>\n
