SAN DIEGO, CA (April 15, 2022) \u2013<\/strong> The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Leticia Gutierrez de Ordaz as the woman who was killed in a crash on I-5 on Tuesday. The April 12 crash occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, close to Coronado Avenue in the Nestor area.<\/p>\n

The time was roughly 11:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, Gutierrez de Ordaz was a passenger in a pickup truck that her husband was driving. Authorities allege Gutierrez de Ordaz’s husband executed a quick lane change and veered toward an exit off the freeway.<\/p>\n

As the pickup truck moved abruptly across the freeway lanes, reports say, an oncoming vehicle–described as a Volkswagen Jetta–hit the pickup truck.<\/p>\n

The truck overturned and rolled multiple times, authorities said, ejecting Gutierrez de Ordaz from the vehicle. Responders transported her to the hospital.<\/p>\n

She was pronounced deceased in the hospital. Gutierrez de Ordaz was 64 years old.<\/p>\n

The types of injuries her husband suffered have not been reported.<\/p>\n

The Volkswagen’s driver–identified only as a woman–was also hurt; her injuries have also not been reported.<\/p>\n

Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.<\/p>\n
