LONG BEACH, CA (January 20, 2022) \u2013<\/strong> Early in the afternoon on Tuesday in Long Beach, a trash truck struck and killed a man. The January 18 crash occurred in the vicinity of Anaheim Street and Del Rey Court, in an alley.<\/p>\n

The time was roughly a little after 1:00 p.m., Long Beach Police said.<\/p>\n

Reports say the trash truck–owned by a private company–is believed by investigators to have been backing when it struck the victim.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the person who was struck was believed to have been lying down on the ground when the trash truck hit him.<\/p>\n

Responders pronounced him deceased at the crash site.<\/p>\n

The victim was identified only as 57 years old. His name has not been reported.<\/p>\n

The person who was driving the truck stayed at the crash site and called for help. His identity has not been reported.<\/p>\n

Investigators are continuing work on the crash. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact Kelsey Myers or Shawn Loughlin, both of whom are detectives.<\/p>\n
