EL CAJON, CA (December 21, 2021) \u2013<\/strong> Late in the afternoon on Sunday in El Cajon, a man was struck and seriously injured on I-8 after running out of gas. The December 19 crash occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway, close to Mollison Avenue.<\/p>\n The time was roughly 5:45 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Baranowski who is with the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n A vehicle–described as a Buick–ran out of gas in the roadway’s right lane. The driver got out of the vehicle and had been standing near the hood.<\/p>\n A vehicle–described as a Hyundai Elantra–that had been traveling on the freeway struck the rear end of the Buick, which hit the driver who was outside of the vehicle.<\/p>\n Responders took the man who had been driving the Buick to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He suffered injuries that were described as major. His current condition is not known.<\/p>\n He was identified only as 22 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.<\/p>\n The person who had been driving the Hyundai cooperated with investigators. She was identified only as 32 years old.<\/p>\n Her name and city of residence have also not been reported. Reports do not say if she was hurt in the crash.<\/p>\n Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.<\/p>\n
